Concrete help
alleviates need

One world for all

Needy children and families live in villages or urban slums. They are part of a larger community. In order to be able to help individuals, the infrastructure of the village, neighborhood, city and region must also be supported. Emmaus Children's Relief supports these communities with specific projects.

Confident about the future

Many people in developing countries are illiterate, live in slums and have poor or no sanitary facilities. The diet is poor and one-sided, and there is a lack of education about hygiene and family planning. The adults rarely have the chance to do regular work and the children have to miss school because they have to beg or help out in the fields. The hopeless situation brings with it problems such as alcoholism, prostitution and crime. We combat the plight of these people on both an individual and community level. Our community aid includes projects for the general public:

  • Construction of wells, sewage systems, school buildings and homes
  • Construction of roads
  • Financing of small workshops and industries (production of clothes, soaps, cleaning agents, candles, jams, juices, etc.)
  • Development of community centers
  • Installation of public toilets
  • Training and further education programs
  • Support for women's groups
  • Health education (clean environment, varied diet, personal hygiene, prevention and avoidance of diseases, etc.)
  • Maternity and childcare (advice and care)
  • Vaccination, vitamin and nutrition programs
  • Medical checks and emergency assistance
