About us
The activities of Children's Care Emmaus are inspired by the motto «Serve the most needy first». We support needy children and families in developing countries and closely work with them to alleviate the causes of their hardship. Regardless of ethnicity, origin and religion the assistance of our interdenominational organization goes to those in need.
Our concern
Children's Care Emmaus is an association under Swiss law and is tax-exempt in its capacity as a relief organization. The Managing Director and his assistant are paid; they work with about 15 volunteers. By sharing the concerns, fears and hopes of those in need and allowing them in return to participate in our lives, our ideas and our visions, we become partners in the struggle for a fairer world.Together with the sick and needy, the handicapped, the elderly, the orphans, the disaster victims, the children, young people and adults, we attempt to create the conditions in a way that everyone can live in dignity. The activities of Children's Care Emmaus include personal child sponsorships, family aid and development projects.
Our history
In autumn 1971 Theres Farine founds under the patronage of «Friends of Emmaus Berne» our children's welfare organization, under the name «Card Campaign and Sponsorships Emmaus». This institution becomes 1979 an independent member of the Federation Emmaus-Switzerland which today comprises four further Emmaus groups and six communities. In 2007 it is run under today's name Children's Care Emmaus. In 2009 its office is renovated and computer based in the following year. The restructuring of the relief organization can be completed in 2014. Since it was set up, Children's Care Emmaus has supported 120 development projects in 22 countries. During this time some 11`330 godchildren, ten thousands of school children and thousands of families can be given sustainable aid.
